While there is no shortage of great dining options throughout Old Orchard Beach (and beyond), we've highlighted a few of our favorite spots to grab a meal and/or libations.
Big Daddy's Restaurant in downtown OOB is one of our favorite places to grab dinner. Their menu is fantastic and every dish that we've ordered has been top notch. When you need a break from the fried seafood standards (does that really ever happen?), this is your place. Favorite dish: Salmon Pontchartrain. Here's a link to their dinner menu.
Definetly you fastest option for grabbing a bite without heading into town. Sheila's General Store, just a few steps north on E. Grand Ave, has a great deli counter and serves up breakfast lunch and dinner options. Check out their menu.
Fried clams - the whole belly style clams - might very well be the most underrated facet of New England seafood! Lobster is great, but the clams... this is where it's at! The fried clams offered up at Ken's are (IMO) the best around. Great for eat-in, dining outdoors or for take-out. Pro-tip: order the clams a la cart (crumbs only - batter is lame!). Get a quart of clams and skip the filler fries and slaw. Also, the clam chowder is ridiculously tasty.
If the weather is right, dinner on the peir of The Bait Shed is the best! The halibut with lobster sauce is epic. If you can time your visit to high tide that's all the better (low tide is okay too, just less picturesque)
Holy Donut on rt.1 make A Maze Ing donuts. Some favorties of our family: chocolate sea salt, blueberry glazed, maple, chocolate bannana... okay they're all so good! Defintly worth a stop in the morning if you're heading north on rt.1
Elevate Cafe is going to be your best bet for great bagles in OOB. It's a few miles up the road, but for sure worth the drive for the best breakfast bagels in OOB (rosemary sea salt bagel ftw!). Bonus bagel info: Rover Bagels in Biddeford is also asesome and a totally difrent style of bagel.
People LOVE the Pier Fries... I'm something of a french fry snob - even worked at a classic Jersey Shore french fry joint as a kid! I like Pier Fries. They aren't exactly my favorite style of fry (blasphemy?) , but they are quite tasty - especially when slathered in vinegar. A great snack for long walks on the beach.
One of the nicer restaurants in OOB. The food and overall expereince is fantastic. The views of the sand dunes and the ocean is also pretty great. You'll definitely want to call ahead for a reservation.
The best pizza in town? Depends who you ask, but if you ask us, it's Rocco's. Their takeout window is right in town at 4 W. Grand Ave and they make a killer thin crust pizza.
Sometimes the summer crowds in OOB can be a lot when you're looking for dinner. When you're catching 30 minute wait times at most spots in town, sometimes it makes sense to drive out 15 mins to Sea Salt on rt.1 in Sacco.
Kinda more of a locals spot, but as good as anywhere with nice indoor and outdoor seating. Some favorite dishes include: seafood stuffed haddock, lobster mac and cheese, and of course the lobster roll(s).
The Tiki Bar at the Blue Anchor Resort is a great spot to stroll up the beach to - only 1/2 mile from your house! It's a fun atmosphere with live music and a great vibe. They do shut things down at 7pm, so best to stroll over there on the early side of the evening.
